Honoring teens lost on Utah roads.
Overview
Teen Memoriam is a Zero Fatalities book series that honors teens who died on Utah roads and shows driver education students what one decision can cost. I concepted and designed two editions, “Treasured Memories” (2025) and “Memories of You” (2018–2020), and for the 2025 book I also planned and styled the shoots, ordered the props and photographed every set.
The Challenge
Each book has to honor real teens and their families while still doing a job: showing teens, and the driver education classes that use these books for activities, what one decision on the road can cost. Families have seen past editions, so each new book had to feel personal, never clinical or exploitative.
The Idea
Make each book a keepsake first and a statistic second. For Treasured Memories, a real still life: each framed portrait photographed among props styled around the teen’s life, on a color of its own, with the statistics drawn in a sketch style. For Memories of You, torn-paper lettering and cutout portraits surrounded by collages of each teen’s interests.
