Know the Pedestrian Myths, Save Your Life, over a unicorn-and-rider silhouette in a dark forest

PedMyths: from campaign to curriculum.

Overview

PedMyths is a pedestrian safety campaign originally created for UDOT and later adopted by Safe Routes Utah. Working from and expanding the existing visual identity, I built a webpage for middle school teachers to use as a full lesson plan, including 3 video segments, animated social media videos, classroom posters, worksheets, and a printable lesson plan.

The Challenge

Safe Routes Utah serves grades K–8, but middle schoolers had no resources at all. Teens tend to feel invincible and care more about protecting friends and family than themselves, and health teachers needed something simple to teach from.

The Idea

Debunk five common pedestrian myths, like “If a car sees me, it can stop in time,” with a lesson plan teachers can run as-is: a website, three videos, a worksheet, a printable plan and classroom posters, plus animated social ads to pull students toward the pedestrian myths quiz.
